While doing brakes...
Lookie Lookie, I think my car may actually have Konis (now that I've ordered Bilsteins of course).
So, while swapping the rotors, pads, etc. out, I'm doing some cleanup. The "black" rears turn out to be filthy. With a little Berryman's B-12 & a rag, I start to clean things up back there...
And I find a yellow under, with a green tape stripe at the bottom. Hmmm. The Koni's I've worked with before were strut inserts, not shocks, so can someone confirm these are actually Koni shocks back there?
Unfortunately, while pulling the rear rotors off, I discover the parking brake shoes are toast, so she'll wait a day until those come in before finalizing. Nuts. Now I have to mow the lawn instead of finishing the car.
Here's some pics of the morning.
And yeah, take a look at the CV's... discovered there's no boot clamps on there - the boots are able to slide back & forth. Looks like it's been that way for awhile, so now I'll plan on buying new ones worst case.

Hey Fred:
Yellow with a blue stripe near the bottom?
Look VERY closely at the shock tube near the bottom for some numbers and send those to me. Those might be Bilstein Sports of unknown age,...
You can use tie-wraps on the CV boots.

It's more a fluorescent green at this point, but both sides had it. Front tubes are definitely black w/ BOGE stamped in the side.
Speaking of the top, I gotta shut her up, she may spend the night outside & there's a chance of t-storms. Hate to do it, but I REALLY don't feel like dropping, assembling the rotors, pushing inside, then reversing when my ebrake shoes come in tomorrow.
Here's a close-up:

Went through the records I have today Steve, I see no mention of suspension work over the years. PO / SHO buddy of mine had the car since Jan 97, 32k miles. Sent him the dyno graph comparing the 3.2L SHO to the 911 too, along with the parts list from this week's round of slush-fund emptying.
Soooo, somebody mentioned here it's 4 hours or so to align / ride height / corner-balance? Accurate? Budget that much for it?

bottom line is my car drives and handles great now - noticeably better than before. now i do have new tires (Hankook ventus rs2) and new turbo tie rods, but a few corners where i could easily control slide the car before, now sticks amazingly well.
