Yep, or in the case of the one I have for sale just stand behind it when she 1st starts after sitting a bit. EASY to know when the guides are done!

I'm another 993 owner lurking around here, reading about 3.2's...I'll never sell the 993, but I sure am intrigued about adding an older one to the stable!

I have a 3.2 with 80k, just had the valve cover gaskets replaced to fix an oil leak, brakes all around, cat bypass and sport muffler(really like that) and found out that a couple valve guides are leaking, but decided not to do anything now because the car runs so well. Guess i'll just keep an eye on it and drive it.

My daqd has had is 1986 3.2 since new with no Problems. I think it is an awsome car. Also, once thing to consider with that engine is that Porsche still uses the same basic design for theire race engines and turbos. THe 997 GT3 still uses the same basic Block as the 3.2 just with water cooled heads and same for the 997 turbo. Obviously there have been some technoligy updates and the displacement has been changed but when broken down the engine has the same basic design as the olod 3.2 from the '80's. I think that says something about these engines.

Very true. The 996 GT2/GT3/Turbo all share the same "core" engine, as does the 997 equivalents... Many people on Rennlist are quite leary of the M96 engine due to the oil starvation issue if tracked... For that reason, I would own a 996 as a daily driver, but not as a car to push...

From all that I have heard, the 3.2 AND 3.0 engines are bulletproof. Great thread. Looks like the minimal number of "hang ups" have been cited...
