i bought my 87 3.2 2 years ago..NO PPI..crazy yes..BUT i am glad i did not get the ppi..the 1st year i put 5k into the car..if i knew this was going to be the case ,i never would have bought it..NOW,i have an amazing car..i knew the sunroof was not working,700 bucks to fix, major service and and new brakes with caliper rebuild, new alternator(500)..axel boots, wheel bearings,i bought a set of fuchs here on rennlist(600)....i have a car that has no leaks, pulls strong and is a blast to drive..no problems at all..i have owned 5 porsches, mostly new ones, and this is the best one i have owned, and yes i have owned a 993..j

I have a 3.2 with 80k, just had the valve cover gaskets replaced to fix an oil leak, brakes all around, cat bypass and sport muffler(really like that) and found out that a couple valve guides are leaking, but decided not to do anything now because the car runs so well. Guess i'll just keep an eye on it and drive it.

My daqd has had is 1986 3.2 since new with no Problems. I think it is an awsome car. Also, once thing to consider with that engine is that Porsche still uses the same basic design for theire race engines and turbos. THe 997 GT3 still uses the same basic Block as the 3.2 just with water cooled heads and same for the 997 turbo. Obviously there have been some technoligy updates and the displacement has been changed but when broken down the engine has the same basic design as the olod 3.2 from the '80's. I think that says something about these engines.

From all that I have heard, the 3.2 AND 3.0 engines are bulletproof. Great thread. Looks like the minimal number of "hang ups" have been cited...
