How FAT is Carrera + Sunroof Q

It's not possible to know what "fully loaded" is, but the sunroof was an option, rather than "sunroof delete." My favorite sources give curb, aka empty, weight as 1210 kg (2668 lbs) for a base equipment 911 Carrera. I assume that this means no sunroof, with A/C, power windows, the basic seat package, basic period stereo, tool kit, etc. No specific mention is made for Targa and Cab weight, but the '89 Speedster is mentioned at 1220 kg, and the '87 Clubsport is mentioned at 1160 kg. I'm sure that the fully-equipped power seats, with their additional motors, add a few pounds, as does a sunroof, which, if I remember correctly, weighs approximately 25 pounds. Douglas, my sources state that the curb weight of a base USA 911SC ('80-83) is 1250 kg. Maybe it's time for Rennlist to do something truly creative and have members who own different models of the 911 between '65 and '89 arrange to have their cars weighed. We would need guidelines... you know, let me start a new thread and see if interest exists.

Here's the weight for my bone-stock, typically equipped, '88.
2,897 lbs
The weights are from accurate corner scales at Eurowerks in Charlotte. The car has sunroof, A/C, spare tire, jack, full washer bottle, full tank of gas, power windows, electric non-sport seats, 6" & 7" x 16" Fuch wheels.
Oh... the Optima battery weighs about 1/2 what the OEM battery did.

Capt: Great report, but I have a very silly question. Normally, when a car is corner balanced, weight close to that of the driver is placed in the car. Did the "2897" number include what you weigh? The reason that I ask is because of the huge difference between the factory published curb weight and the weight of your car.

Almost 2900 lbs just floors me! When I prepared my '81 SC coupe without sunroof (factory weight of 1250 kg - 2756 lbs) I found that it was relatively easy to make the minimum weight of 2640 pounds (I think that was the number) even with a roll cage. I removed the A/C and factory period Sport Seats (which were extremely heavy), the rear heater blower, replaced the exhaust with SSIs and a light-weight muffler, put fiberglas spoilers on the car, installed Sparco seats with 6-point belts, and voila!, the car required ballast after cage installation.
