Default G50 hyd clutch fluid bleeding

OK, I've brought this topic up before, but I have a new theory. I drove my 88' 911 cab quite a bit during the cold months here in CT and noticed that when it was below roughly 40 degrees outside, my brand new clutch would engage nice and smoothly. Now that it's 70 - 80+ degrees out my clutch chatters and it feels like the whole engine and tranny are shaking (jumping). This has bugged me for some time now and I was thinking in the whole system the only thing that could be effected by the temperature would be the slave cyl fluid (viscocity) for the clutch. Any thoughts on this?? How often should the system be bled? Are there symptoms if there is water or contamination in there? If I could solve this problem my car would be much more enjoyable to drive.

Brgds, Peter

How long have you had the car, and has the brake/clutch fluid been flushed & bled? I would start there to establish a baseline, plus, I'm betting it's due . Bleeding frequency varies, but it's not hard, and should be a regular maintenance item...get a Motive Pressure Bleeder if you don't have one...makes it a snap, and is almost a requirement for bleeding the clutch. Good luck!

Yeah I would say it's due. I'm embarrassed to say, I've had the car 6 years and never bled the clutch. Hell, I replaced the clutch myself, but didn't bleed the system! Duh. I have one of those handy vacuum bleeders works great for brakes....... I figure that should work no??

I would "think" that a vacuum bleeder would work fine for bleeding the clutch...and you should be embarassed

Does your engine/tranny vibrate with the clutch in or out? If out, then I suspect that you may have a problem with the clutch itself, and not necessarily with the hydraulic system.

It happens when pulling away from a dead stop just as the clutch starts engaging. less than 4k on new Pressure plate / disc / TO bearing / pilot bearing / flywheel bolts / PP bolts etc....etc.... Here's a stupid question (I'm sure it's in the Bentley manual) what fluid do you use in the clutch sys?

The reservoir for the clutch is actually the same reservior as the braking system, and so they share the fluid.

I recently changed my fluid to ATE Blue.

OMG, did I really type that ...I obviously had tranny's on my mind, and of course Murphylaw is correct, ATE Super Blue (or some other high quality brake fluid). Sorry 'bout that...
