Question Best Muffler for 79 SC Porsche

Hi, Im looking for a better sound on My 79SC 911. Which muffler can you recommend me. I already talked to my maintenance guy and he recommended fabspeed. I was at the homepage and listened to the sound on their video. I didn't like it so much its was just to deep and throaty, did sound like a v8 liter but not like a porsche any more. Any better options for me?
Thanks for your help

I heard an 80 SC with a Bursch (spelling?) and it sounded awesome. Anyone know more about these?

You cannot beat a Monty (IMHO, of course) and these are built FAR better than anything else.

If you do a search on YouTube, you'll find a ton of M&K clips. Not so many GHL ones though. Maybe I'll have to record mine when I get a chance.

That would be great Matt. The big diameter looks great on your car

I have a GHL on my 3.6 conversion - it is lightweight and sounds great, though it is loud and has some resonance issues at certain RPMs- my wife wears earplugs!
The problem with GHL is they split open along the welded seams of the muffler- this happened to me at the track less than a year into owning it. Know of several others this has happened to as well. I had a master welder tig weld the seams back together and have had no other problems. This is also the fix my buddies did as well, one having gone three years without another bursting.
Unfortunately, GHL has crappy customer service, even though they advertise "Lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials" ,this is not the case. They would not discuss it, answer phone calls ,or emails-just trying to give them a heads up, not looking for compensation. Apparently, they know about it and choose to ignore it.

I have a cat bypass and a Bursch muffler on my 83. My friend just got this same setup on his 79. It is loud but not obnoxious. The sound is everything an aircooled should be. Got a small boost of power with it as well.

Although I want wake up the neighbors loud, I still love my setup for now.

I just put stainless steel headers and bursch on my '86. The bursch was just going to stay on until I had a Flow Master made to fit, but in all honesty I think I'm going to keep it the way it is, it sounds awesome. I already owned the Bursch from a previous early 911 so my guy just cut and re arc welded to make it fit. He said the Bursch is more restrictive than a muffler as it is running each tube through 2 glass pack set ups. The headers/Bursch combo has an insane sound.

Are megaphones street legal? I'm wondering what is the lightest and most powerful solution, even if I only get to use it on the track.
