Default sold 3.2...bought a 996

this was a very tough call..1st of all i would like to thank everyone here for all the help over the last 2 years..truly the best forum in the world..glad to be a member..i live in north carolina and the heat is brutal..my a/c is working as well as it works, but its not making it at all..i love the car but i cant take it anymore..i sold it for what i paid for it 2 years ago..fixed what needed fixing..it has 103k and is a great car..if anyone is interested in buying the car,pm me and i will put you in touch with the dealer, who is a wonderful guy to work with..i bought a 996,which i will add is not my favorite 911 made, but i still wanted to drive a 911 with great a/c..i owned a few boxsters, so i am familiar with the cars..its arctic silver/grey(both boxsters were also as)..not the best color for me but i feel i got a great deal..(mid 20s) 87k miles, just serviced, new tires, brakes, new transmission, water pump,NEVER had an rms..all records...i did think about putting another a/c system in my 3.2,but passed..i truly loved my 3.2,and i am actually sad,really..i just washed it for the guy..the car has so much character(much more than the 996)..but in 95 degree weather its character sucks..lol..thanks guys and i will still come by and say hello..joey

Congrats and post some pictures

I use my GLI or Thing in the heat and the Targa (A/C removed) when it's below 90 the remaining 9 months of the year.

At least tell us its newer than a 2000 or whenever they upgraded the headlights like the turbo's. Good luck with it.

Joey C, I feel your pain. I sold an 85 Carrera for the same reason and bought a 996 for its excellent a/c. I tried to love it, but couldn't. So.... I traded the 996 for a Q45 with excellent a/c, and bought an SC to have a car I could love again.

Hope the 996 works out for you. But if it doesn't, you know the way the back to a beguiling, air-cooled mistress to start a new, torrid affair.

Damn...youse guys keep scaring me about the a/c...
I have a 88 928 with great a/c, a 993 w/ great a/c and have an almost agreement on a 88 Targa, and the PPI shows the a/c to fully charged and working???
I live in Atlanta, and it does get hot and humid here through the summer, although i have been to hotter and more humid places (New orleans, Miami, Houston, etc...)...
are you saying the a/c sucks???
Just kidding, I was surprised to find a 88 where the a/c actually works (hopefully at least nominally)?

i got mine charged last year...everything else was working fine..when the sun was beating down and it was in the high 80s-90s..i could not live with it..if it was cloudy mid 80s it was ok.(just ok)..the vents kinda stink..if i could afford a 2nd car(well 3rd-wifes audi) i would...well i am looking foward to the 996 anyhow..i actually care less these days..my life is pretty full and cars seem less important,BUT i still want a porsche...i thought about an audi s4 and even though i care less,i still get excellence magazine and i know i would miss not having a 911..

Default 911 to 996

Post some pics joey, we'd love to see the 996. If your ever playing up here in the Detroit area and want to go for a ride in a 3.2 Cab. just drop a line. You never know...you may run into the right car for sale at the right time at the right price and possibly be back on the 911 thread.

Best Regards,
Real

my '87's ac works fine, until about 100 F. ambient.
wouldn't own a 928 for love, money or even low temps...
circumstances vary.
hope your change works,
the 996 is a fine platform - tune it to feel like your 3.2.
maybe then you'll be happy,
or not.

Depends on your climate. If it is fry an egg on the asphalt hot, the SC and Carrera a/c sucks.
