I love my C4S but am looking at a second car as occasional driver and would like to start doing some DE and track events (in Atlanta).
I don't know much about the 91 Turbo- would this be a bad choice? I toyed with the idea of a 996 but they seem so souless, and even another 993 but like the idea of having 2 different models.
How the reliability of this model vs. say the 993 (touch wood- its never been a problem).
Any help is appreciated.

I would say both just as reliable, but the Turbo car, along with track events will put some additional stress on the car. So expect a light higher maintenance cost. Otherwise, I would think that 320HP is going to be quite fun in that little 964 turbo.

The Porsche Turbo models can cost much more to maintain and repair so buyer beware. The 91 Turbo will have some turbo lag so you will need to change your driving style to accommodate this.
I like simple cars for the track. This makes learning to drive them that much easier. This makes maintaining them that much cheaper. Why not get a SC or Carrera for the occasional track day?

If you're after a 965, try to find a 3.6, it has a much better induction system with efi, twin spark, less lag etc than the old 3.3 that really wasn't updated since the 930, all you really have is a better gearbox than the pre 88 930s, well apart from the 964 suspension etc. Anyway, hunt a 3.6, they rock, also the pinacle of the older shape IMHO. 993s aren't the cheapest Porsches to maintain anyway so it shouldn't be much more than your 993 C4S (sweet car BTW).
But if you are after something raw, as eric says an SC or Carrera gutted out make quick simple track cars.
Good luck!
