Default "ARERRA" now what do I do?

yes, i bought it like that and yes, performance was more than happy to add me to the long list of customers who have replaced this plastic. now how do I get the old one off and the new one on. I'm thinking blue tape to line it up, but have no ideas on removing the old glue. please help.

Use dental floss to "cut" the old adhesive by working it under the old emblem. Or you could just pull it off... Then use 3M Tar and Adhesive Remover on a cloth to remove the old glue. The solvent will remove any wax, so be sure to polish/wax before applying the new emblem.

do i blanket the entire area with wax? should I use a clay bar to remove the calcium around the emblem, or will the 3m take care of that? I was thinking that the new glue may not stick to the wax and to wax after. I like the before idea.

Do you need to use heat, or will the floss work without heat?

I used a hair-dryer. Don't get too close or heat the area too much but a little heat speeds the process along quite nicely. It works like a charm.

Try a crowbar or an axe !!!

Just trying to add some sarcastic humor...

Actually, the hair drier with the floss is good. Heat from under the lid so you are heating directly on the metal, not the emblem. While you are heating, cut it off with the floss. You may need a second pair of hands. ***Note*** "do not!!!... I repeat, DO NOT use a crowbar or and axe!!!

When I worked at a detailing shop, we used to do it without heat. That said, the cars were relatively warm because of the heated shop and 4000W of light surrounding each car. Driving the car for awhile should do just fine....plus its an excuse to drive your car!

Yes, clay bar followed by cut polish would be best. That will get rid of any deposits, oxidation or discoloration around the edges of where the badge used to be. I used to wax before applying the emblems, that way the paint would be able to repel any dirt trying ot settle around the emblem. We never had any problems with adhesion.

it went well. the old badge fell off with just a little tug. the double sided foam tape was left on the paint. It came off with a blow dryer and a dental tool. what a pain. i washed everything with soap and water between every step. the clay bar was the best tool used. it cut the calcium and most of the residual glue. we'll see if this one stays on for 19 1/2 years.
