Hey gunlover

just wanted to let you know I did not know if fuchs were going to go up or down and I was curios about the pole so I said they were going to go down as I had few options ( i don't really think they are going down ) .
People buy cars for different reasons, I like original looking cars. I would not pay more for fuchs but if I were looking at two similar cars in the same price range and one had fuchs and the other had ridiculuously expensive after marker wheels , I would take the cars with Fuchs.

I have actually been looking at 993 turbos and the ones with aftermarket wheels I will not even consider for soem reason. They nay even be worth more than the originals.

maybe you could try finding someone that wants to trade. Post pics of your wheels. Maybe someone will bite.

Yeah, I have an idea of where those prices are going to go ...also got a hot stock tip for those of you interested

Fuchs will only get older, develop cracks, or become destroyed in accidents, so supply and demand will dictate that the price will only increase. The question is with which rims and when. The 6/7 x15s are easy to come by and the cheapest option; next are the 6/7x16s. So while there are LOTS of these out there at good prices now, how long that will last is anyone's guess.

Then there are the expensive ones: the coveted 8x16s, and the uber-priced 9s. Find these and you WILL pay considerably more than the other Fuchs in comperable condition.

The other very important factor is what Jack O. mentioned: their usable life span. Metal can only flex/last so long. But if you really want the look, I personally would go the extra mile and find a good set of 7/8 x16s as they look so good (and so right!!) on the pre-964 bodies. Won't be cheap, but the look and quality are worth it. Think about it: every time you look at or approach your car, you will be rewarded with that classic 911 look and stance. The reward is priceless if you're a Fuchs man! The alternative is that everytime you see another 911 with gorgeous Fuchs, you'll be feeling a little, oh, inadequate

Does anyone have an opinion on the prices of Fuchs holding, going up, or going down within the next 5 years?

Well it really depends on what size you are talking about. I sold a set of 4 1/2 x 15 a few years ago for $400/ wheel today they are worth 50% more than that. The deep sixes are getting more expensive, the 7 R's and RSR wheels have been very expensive for a while now but these are rare sizes. As the older 911's get more and more valuable the NLA parts will increase in value as well. If you just spent 75-100 K having your S or RS restored you are probably willing to spend a buck or two to get the correct dated wheels.

Well, i took Jack's advice...I bought a set of 6/7x16s ($560) and are refinishing them now (very time consuming). I think for that kind of money, I can always get my money back (or more) if needed.

The 17 inch repros are of unknown quality and with the low aspect tires they have somewhat of a Pimp My Ride look to them on a classic 911.

The black fuchs with polished rims are my favorite Porsche wheels. I've been buying good 15s and 16s at flea markets and ebay when I see them reasonably priced. The ones on my '84 were powdercoated and polished by the previous owner. Note that the targa bar was powdercoated as well. I have a spare one in stainless steel and may replace the black one soon.

Anything original, made in limited quantity, and subject to enthusiast demand, will value with time...

Fuchs are no longer manufactured. As a foged wheel, they are extremely strong as well as lighter in weight than their cast alternatives. In fact, reproduction Fuchs wheels are both heavier and much more easily broken. A forges rim, because of that process, will bend far greater before breaking than will a cast wheel. Cast wheels really need to have their walls beefier to get back some strength,--if not beefier, they will fail. As such, their prices will always stay high. I finally got around to selling a set of pretty fine 7 and 8 x 16s last year to a Rennlister for a fair amount of money. They are extremely well built,--but taht's not to say that they don't have their little finish issues. Remember, these are forged and essentially beaten into shape!

Is it true that they're no longer manufactured? You can still buy them new from Porsche and other vendors, and I've been told about post-2000 manufacturer date codes on the ones being sold.

I would be surprised if they are still making them,--at Fuchs. Perhaps so,--I figured by now, some 18 years after being sold on the 1989s it was time to shut down production. Are you sure they're not repros?
