I am looking for a set of tires for a 73 RS that are period correct. The car has a set of michelins on a set of wheels for the street right now. I am looking for a set of tires that can be put on another set of wheels for concours purpose only and they must be a tire from the early 70's preferably OEM. The wheels are 7X15 anf 8X15 and the tires that are currently on the car are 205/15 60 in the fronts and 215/15 60 in the rear. Any ideas? Price? Where to get them? etc...Thanks in advance.

I've been looking for years. Its easy to get the 185-70's for the fronts, Michellin XWX's can be found at Coker. And you can even get Pirelli CN36's in that size from Italy. But you can't get the 215-60 tire to match.
I just run a set of 195-65 fronts and 215-60's Pirelli P6000s. Not period looking but at least the correct diameters.
I was hoping that someone would arrange a group buy of the 215's with Pirelli and maybe they would do a special run of the CN36's in that size.

Luis,
I'm sure you know this but to be technically correct you should have 6' front and 7' rear Fuchs for a '73 Carrera. Anyway the only period looking tires I know of that come in 185/70 and 215/60 are the Avon CR6ZZ. Sasco Motorsports in the East and Roger Kraus Racing in the West are the distributors for these tires. They are not OEM but look great and work well once warmed up.

Here is a link to Avon Motorsport tires.

I was mistaken about Roger Kraus. The link above will take you to the NA suppliers.

I have a set of pirelli p?(6 or7) from a while back that are old but in perfect almost zero mile condition. They came on my '75 carrera which I think has the same wheel sizes. If they are of interest I can check to see exactly what they are. They are ~15 yrs old at least, so I don't know if they would be the correct item.

tire experts concur... one should not risk lives by driving on tires more than 5 or 6 yrs old. for show cars driven exclusively on grassy lawns, do whatever helps you win the trophy.

At the last Parade, there was a guy with a nice Weissach coupe that still had the original Pirelli CN36's on them. It was cool to see those tires. He just uses the wheels/tires when driving on grassy surfaces and switches them out for the street.
If you want the proper speed rated tires, the only choices at the tirerack are the P6000 or the Yokohama AVS. Are the Avon CR6ZZ a soft compond for the track?
I'm getting my Fuchs back from Harvey soon and I need to get some new tires as well....I don't like the P6000's that I'm currently running.

Hi Folks, I haven't posted on Rennlist for years but I need a new set of tires for my ride and can't find anything! Looks like tire manufacturers have really abandoned the 15 inch rim space in the last 4-5 years.
I have a 74 Euro Carrera running on 7 and 8 by 15 inch Fuchs. Currently I am running on Toyo TR-1s in the following sizes:
Front: 205/55 15
Rear: 225/50 15
I would like to switch to
Option 1:
Front: 195/65 15
Rear: 215/60 15
or Option 2:
Front: 185/70 15
Rear: 215/60 15
With a preference for Option 1. I figure a switch to option 2 would be a little too drastic a change.
But I am having real problems find any matching sets for any of the 3 (current set up as well) options!
Is there a specialist tire supplier for these older sizes? And if I buy from any of these 'vintage' tire suppliers, how recently is the stock typically? I am guessing that these vintage tire models do get some limited production reruns done by the tire manufacturers?
TIA for all the help folks!

leslie, I'm in the same boat. In your option 1, you should be able to find Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS and G019. All season, but that's about all there is anymore in high performance street tires in 15".
I was thinking of going to 205/50-15 in the front and 235/50-15 in the rear, just so I could get some Toyo Proxes R888 for the track, even though they will be slightly undersize. What did you not like about your TR-1s?
