Default Owner's Manuals

Does anyone have a suggested web site to get a copy of the original owner manuals for a 1989 911 Cabriolet. Tried E-Bay...no luck. Any chance Porsche
Dealers would be able to order one from new old stock ?

You might have to scan ebay for a longer period of time.

It took me about three months of watching ebay to get a manual for my '88 944. Not including the dealer on ebay who wanted $139 for a new one.

You could try Pelican, they list a lot of manuals but unfortunatly they're not always in stock.

I had a heck of a time locating a manual for my '87. First let me warn you that all the usual suspects that sell Porsche parts and say that they also sell manuals, do not have them. They are on back order with Porsche. This was true as of a few months ago. Maybe you will get lucky and someone will get a shipment in. More likely you will have a better chance checking ebay everyday. I did this for a month and it finally paid off. I even lost a couple to bid snippers. Occasionally I see them in Panorama. Good luck!

Default I have an extra owner's manual from my 1988 Carrera...

The title is 911 Turbo and 911 Carrera. It has a section on the care and operation of the convertible top. The print date on page 1 is 6/87. I also have an extra vinyl folding cover (maroon color). It is in like new condition.

If you are interested, e-mail me an offer. I can send photos.

I must be lucky.

My 82 Targa came with the owners' manual and maintenance book enclosed in the red vinyl holder.

Yup, you are lucky. It turns out there's a market for manuals and people are collecting them who dont even own the cars. Frustrating. The 1988 944 manual was hard to find because the 1988 944 had some features unique to that year.

The manual is great to have, but if you plan on doing any serious work on the car, it's beneficial to also have the Bentley manual as well. Just an FYI, depending on what your needs are.

It is very annoying. My 964 is the first car I bought that had everything (maint, radio manual, even the window sticker etc) except the main owner's manual. I had to buy one on ebay. I was lucky in that all my other cars had the manuals when I bought them, including our 1978 VW beetle.

If you think the manuals are bad, check out some of the asking prices for porsche tool kits- unfortunately there appears to be a building market for those. If that doesn't get you boiled, check out the market for tool kits for Ferrari's....some of the tool kits from recent cars (i.e. 10 or less years old) are approaching $1,000, and some toolkits from older 1960's cars (Dino, Daytona) are in the 4-5 figures asking price. Crazy! Makes the $20 or so for the porsche manual seem like peanuts
