Need Battery Charging Help
I have a 1987 911 that is sitting in my garage over the winter. My question is should I charge the battery, on a trickle charger, with the battery still hookup to the car or unconnected?

I have a Schumacher trickle charger that mounts in the car next to the battery. It cycles on and off as needed. I keep the charger plugged in when I don't use the car for extended periods of time.

I use a Deltran Battery Tender, which is recommended for cars, motorcycles, boats, whatever. Although it is recommended to remove the battery from the car, you can also mount that charge in the car and plug it in when needed.

Good product and it won't overcharge your battery. Several sources, including batterymart.com

Here's a link to the Schumacher charger. It lists for $48, but you can get it for a lot less at places like Kragen, Autozone, etc.

Schumacher for me. Charges dead batteries and converts to trickle when complete. Also checks battery voltage and alternator output. It's a model 7500 slc or something like that.
