Broke My Speedometer!!!!!!
I'm a bull in a china shop. I hate these watch repair type projects.
I was trying to remove the stupid white faces that a previous owner installed in my gauges. I was up to the speedometer and of course I ended up breaking the needle shaft.
So now am I looking at a small fortune? What's the best thing to do? Send it to North Hollywood or someplace like that? Or find a used one?

If it were me I'd send it to North Hollywood Speedo. It'll come back to you working and looking like new. While it's there, you might consider having them replace the plastic odometer gear that often disintegrates over time.

Ok...So I got some estimates from a few places and they are all pretty close to each other. So I guess it just comes down to experience.
North Hollywood Speedometer...this is the one I always hear about and am leaning towards using.
Palo Alto Speedo....I don't hear as much about them...anyone recommend them?
Speedometer Plus....I saw one person on the board who had good experiences with them.
Which do you recommend?
By they way....
the guy's name at Hollywood Speedo is Harmut Behrens
and the guy's name at Palo Alto Speedo is Harmut Mees...
what are the chances of that???

Well I'm sending it out to North Hollywood today. They gave me a little bit of a lower estimate and a quicker turnaround then Palo Alto. Hopefully it can be repaired.

Did you talk to them about replacing the plastic gear while they were "in there?"

Their is also a fairly good shop in Oklahoma City,--Jackson Speedometer. Quite reasonable.
Rather than dick around with trying to fix it yourself let the real pros fix it so that you don't have to think about it ever again.

Just got a call from North Hollywood Speedometer. They received the speedometer on Tuesday. It's already done today and they are sending it back. $ 175. Not bad.
