Douglas Bray: you really need to mellow out. Since stock 911s in the 1984 - 1989 era cannot even do a 100 mph in a 1/4 mile (Source:http://corvette.roadandtrack.com/arc...p?ArticleID=94 ), all I was saying is that the on ramp must be longer than any I've seen. As you see in the attached link, R&R compared a corvette, pantera and a 911. The 911 came in at 96 MPH in the 1/4.

Vinoviva: I'm sorry to have responded to Douglas Bray's comment on the first page "got a car that will go zero to 130 mph on the onramp." I didn't realize how touchy folks have become on this board. It reminds me of the way it was about five/six years ago...

while I am fairly confident in the positive trend of 3.2 values, sometimes I am not so sanguine about the values of 3.2 owners.

How fast are fish? Should you really play with fish? I've seen fish on a on-ramp, however, I'm not positive as to how fast they were going.

I have an 87 guards red carrera 3.2 coupe (13,000miles)which I almost sold in a fit of thankfully, temporary insanity to raise $ for an incoming 993tt, but I had a sudden revelation and I decided to keep it, which goes on my very short good decision list and I thank God I did. These cars are the last of the breed of their day. Never sell for any reason. Even the 993,s don't have the feel and sound of these old legends

Just a reply to Spad01 about his 87 Coupe. Was that 13K correct or is
there a zero missing? My God, it's not hardly even broken in if 13K
is right. I bought my 88 Coupe in 01 with 106K. I let the mileage dictate
to me that I should hold down on driving it so much. Today it has
117K. While not perfect in just every little way, it runs very well,
no leaks, dependable, an as I've said here before;it still turns many
heads and I've got the only one like it in the county! Women recognize
it to be a Porsche even if they incorrectly think it to be a VW on
steroids.

Two cent time is over.

Actually the mileage was 12,050 miles when I got it. Car was owned by a collector. The car is a Sloan car, so you know I paid heavy for it, but the quality and newness is remarkable (PPI'd by two different facilities by me). I'm 63 so the car will be here long after I'm gone, I figure might as well pay now than later

Default my carrera

Hi guys, I recently purchased an 89' Euro-spec 3.2 sunroof-deleted Gran Prix white coupe. The milage on the car is 43,000km(around 27k miles) and evrything on the car is stock. The previous owner haven't done anything to it but safely kept it in his garage. The original paint looks very nice except some tiny dings in the front hood area. Besides the outlook, the car has factory installed alarming system, 16" Forged Alloy wheels(6, 8J) w/anti-theft device, 2 fabric leather seats w/Porsche logos on them and a rear spoiler(similar to Carrera Clubsport.) The engine, brake and suspension are all in good condition after having it checked out by a local Porsche expert. Changing brake fluid and installing a new battery was what I did after a 30 mins test-drive. After reading all your insightful articles regarding the 911 value, I was wondering if I should keep driving this car or just basically leave it in the garage for appreciation only

Are you kidding? DRIVE IT!!!!

Why did you buy the car? To look at it or drive it. IMO, there is no sense in owning a P-car 911 to look at it...

You only go around once! DRIVE IT and DRIVE it hard...

I agree too. I have a stock 911 '85 Turbolook coupe with 27k actual miles priced at $37,900. I have several potential buyers looking at the car and not one blinked an eye at the price after looking at the car. The pristine cars especially in the Turbolook body style are comanding a lot of attention right now.

If you want to leave it in the garage for appreciation only, then I would suggest getting another 89 3.2 for a driver car. You really have to drive these things to appreciate them, but a nice museum piece is also worth having. That said, there is no telling what these cars will bring in the future. They could ramp up to $100,000 like SS Camaro Yenkos, of they could just live with 1-3% per year. Who knows.

But if you have 2 cars, then you have the best of both worlds.

Thanks for all your inputs. I did drive my Carrera once a week and I'm always looking forward to taking him out on a ride. There's so much fun especially driving on curve roads. However, since the car's condition is excellent, I hate to see the milage keep adding up. I would like to keep the way it is now(all original) but somehow I feel I'm limited w/a car like this. Of course it is mine and I could do anything but if I start to buy all the stuff for tuning, I feel like I destory its original beauty. Quite ironic, isn't it? I think I'm gonna sell it and find another car that I could tune whatever I want to. Anyone who's interested could drop me a note.

I have a 87 coupe with 202k on it do the maintenance and drive it everyday. Small oil leak on tube from engine to front t'stat no biggie, time for oil change and valve adjustment. Have all records and original window sticker with build code sticker on back!! I have done the clutch fork update, clutch, starter ring, wires, plugs just what I concider to be normal maintenace I would do even on my wife LS. Car drives stong and gets all the looks. I have thought of changing to something else but Why? Also have a 84 944 my daughter is now claiming is hers because I never drive it. I bought car with 168k on it 3 yrs ago.
