I've had my 76 euro up to 200km with another 1000 or so to go on the tach.Car felt solid but the previous owner put new but cheap tires on it before I brought it so I didn't feel that comfortable going that fast. When I had my 71 T I went 125 which was the max on that car.Thease cars just love to go fast, mine just purrs after you push it.

115mph down a curvy canyon road. Won't do it again. Started to feel too light for me.

You guys are making me giddy.
Mine was late at night to avoid Mr Plod on a local freeway and with no spoiler or wing she started to feel too light for my liking.
Still, I'm new to Porsche and till I read this thread I was thumpin my chest at 175.........(klm's per hour).
So, now I'll pull my head in and humbly skulk to the spectator back rows.

Cheers,
Sean.

GeorgeV8 - 7600rpm with a pushrod chevy small block is a little hard to believe. The valves will start to float at around 6250rpm, even with heavy-duty valve springs.

J-Mc- If thats the case then how do winston cup cars go 500 miles with a small block PUSHROD MOTOR at 8500rpm at over 195mph? Get real do your research before you post. I will give you a hint, I don't have a pickup truck or a school bus motor in the swamp monster.

My 1970 T got up to 120 last fall. A nice road (long & familiar) and I have to admit it was on a slight grade but other than feeling light on the front end, it was pure fun!

I've buried the speedometer at an indicated 160 and probably was going about 10mph faster that that in my 89 Turbo.

[quote]I pushed my 911 RS amercia to 133 mph once. Very solid but to fast for I-465 in INDY.
I passed a boxster , he switched lanes to get out of the WAY!

Want to Be..133mph on I-465?! Thats gotta be dicey..I see people pulled over on that road all the time! I did race a Z8 on I-465, he was coming onto 465 off a ramp and we saw each other and hit it..was very fun, only up to about 95 though. Those things can move, he was suprised I hung with him though.
btw..ive done 145 in my 951, plenty more..too scary at night time in the country though.

Steve Weiner, close your eyes....LOL

As fast as it will go. Rev Limiter 5 gear. In my old 75S with a 3.0. Which was 142. Did 100 mph everyday, at least once. It needed excerised. Usually after the apex on the onramp.

This new one, about 120 somewhere in South Dakota. Bringing it home from Delaware. BUT ONLY ON A ROAD WITH ACCESS CONTROL. AND NO TRAFFIC. WHEN YOUR GOING 120+ THE OTHER GUYS COME UP...FAST.

without a tail and front spoiler, your 911 will weigh a lot less at 135 and even less at 155.

I'm not getting in that car with you. I thought I was nuts, but taking pictures at 180 is really crazy!!!!!!!!!!

And if you want to stop the doubts, take a picture of the tach. Porsche speedometers are notoriously optimistic.
