Default 911 SC Simple Performance Modifications?

Hi guys,

I have added an induction kit, a Sports Pre-Silencer and I am looking to purchase a custom made performance rear silencer.

What other simple modifications can be done to increase performance?

I have an 83 SC so chipping is out.

Cheers

Craig

SSI exhaust headers into a 2-in-1-out performance muffler (assuming you don't have emissions sniff tests as part of your inspection laws). That was my biggest improvement.

I think I am going to compliment my Sports Pre-Silencer pipe by adding a Muffler Bypass Pipe.

Luckily I know a guy who can make these pretty easily so saves me £200 getting a new performance rear box, it also seems to be a very good performance mod, not to mention the sound!

What you guys think?

I just did this with a dual in dual out set up... without tearing into the engine to change out cam and stuff... SSI's and exhaust are almost your only options other than suspension and tires and brakes.

you wont see a huge jump in HP or anything, but the car does act better and is louder.

1. SSIs and 2/1 exhaust (as suggested...BEST bang for your bucks...amazing!)
2. 930 Tie Rods
3. New suspension bushings (preferably ERPs)
4. Lower the car (Free, just time)
5. Remove stuff and lighten the car (free)

3. Brake pads & fluid

if he lives in the UK, maybe so, but in my climate I'm going to all RennAir stuff in the spring. Have it in a box but don't need to mess with it right now.

the items you bought will not increase the performance.

if you can put SSIs on (no emissions check) that will help

If you haven't already, you may want to read the 911SC FAQ at tech.rennlist.com

Hi Craig,

As been stated, the SSIs are a wonderful mod that really does offer real-world-driving improvement, but it's only worth it if you don't have to comply with smog regs. The other thing I would recommend is ditching as much weight as possible. You can certainly start with the a/c and all its plumbing, then move into the interior by eliminating rear seats and replacing the heavy fronts. Engine pad, too. 150 lbs is totally do-able and makes a great difference in the handling!

Suspension is fairly easy and offers great bang-for buck, as well. Lots of opinions/options here; a search might give you some ideas. But dropping a bit of weight along with even mild chassis upgrades can really transform the feel of your car.

I would work on lightening the car. Usually this is cheaper than buying expensive add-ons that don't always improve performance. Lightening the car always works!
