Default Car Covers - help?

I know nothing about car covers but like with everything else you probably get what you pay for.....

I just got my first p-car, a 1988 930, and need a car cover to store it in my carport until I get a garage built for her. West coast rain weather as I am in Vancouver BC Canada - the car will get some blown rain on it once in a while during storm conditions. Any recommendations?

Are the silver covers from Porsche any good?

Thanks,
Dan

I have used Noah car covers for around 10 years and love them. I have one for 4 cars. And only one experienced sun rot after 2 years. I returned it to the shop and Noah sent me a new cover. They have a 4 year warranty. You can order noah covers from various sources but I got it from:
Beverly Hills Motorsport
165 S. Robertson Blvd.
Beverly Hills, CA 90211
Phone: (310) 273-9988
I believe they have a web page but could not find it.

California Car Cover You can call/email them and tell them what kind of environment you will be using the cover in and they will tell what is best and prices. Be sure the car is clean before putting the cover on it.

I second the Noah recommendation for outdoor type (your carport) storage. The silver covers you refer to are more of an in the garage dust cover.

I'll bypass the used silver porsche cover and go for proper one. I searched for the Noah and it is a cover made by Covercraft. Thanks for the suggestions.

Try Performance Products. I know they sell half covers for Mercedes SLs so I suspect they should have them for 911s as well.

I've owned car covers by Covercraft and Cover King. Covercraft is my first choice. I was not pleased with the quality of cover by Cover King, and its customer service was even worse.

I had a link to a company that makes a custom fitted cover with the Porsche crest on the hood, but cannot locate it now. I'll try to look arouns and see if i can find it again.
They fit tightly, like a sock so that wind doesn't make them flap against the paint.
The company is in Europe somewhere.....

California Car Covers (www.calcarcover.com) sells great covers (including Noah) at reasonable prices.

Well, that is partially true. BHMA is now doing business as Beverly Hills Motorsport. And I was in their shop a couple of weeks ago picking up my Noah cover for my 911. I am local to their store and always order by phone and then pick up in person so they do still exist. And the shop is a great place to browse as they have wonderful Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes, etc. stuff. Everything is top drawer. They are even taking orders for gray market Smart cars from MB. I also bought covers from them for my ML350, Porsche 928 and Dino Spyder. Customer service is great. I returned the 928 after almost 2 years and got a brand new one because of some unusual sun rot. No resistence on their part at all. All they did was check with the manufacturer to see if there was any misuse.

Dan, the covers your're referring to are from Carnewal and are for indoor use.

Dave, I have the half cover for my `87 Cab and that I got from Performance Products.

I have a silver Porsche cover. It is an indoor dust cover only. It also is cotton padded on the inside to protect your car from scratches.

For a nice indoor cover, at a very reasonable price, Costco carries one for $30. I am not sure of the brand, but it is almost as nice at some covers I have owned for $100+. It will not fit as well as a California, but for the money, tought to beat.
