Going to buy a 73 RS and need to know what to watch out for. Any expert advice greatly appreciated. Car is completely restored with zero rust issues so that's out of the way. What's original and what's not. Plastic tank, brakes, suspension, interior, glass, body, engine, trans etc?? TIA, Bob

There must be quite a few of us that like the 15's - That's why I'm having so much trouble finding 2 15x8s at anything like a reasonable price!

Bob,
At one time I read that Porsche was trying to document the remaining 73 RS' as there are an unknown number of very good reproductions in the market. The article specifically mentioned some Japanese reproductions that had sold as original RS'. You may have some luck contacting Porsche NA or the PCA.

I would want to know who restored it - and how many restorations it has had. Sounds daft but most were tracked at one time or another and so most have had at least two bites in the body shop. I would want to assure myself the car was jigged to ensure the chassis is straight. If these cars are fetching the sort of prices in the USA as they are in the UK a thorough check out is not unrealistic and should be expected by any seller.

Post it up on Pelican. Those guys sniffed out a fake that was for sale on eBay. It subsequently went to a highline dealership in CA on consignment and they too were duped until Pelicans informed them. It was then taken off the dealership's website and the owner was told the dealership could not represent the car as such.

PJC, what kind of money are they bringing in the UK? The car has undergone a complete restoration including having been galvanized completely. The say the car is an original 1075kg which I presume is the lightweight. Just trying to figure out the little things that should be correct.
WPOZZZ, that was an excellent thread on Pelican. Kind of makes you nervous on these cars.
Thanks, BL
