What would you do?

I found a set of 17" Porsche rims originally ordered with a 2002 Carrera. I want to mount them on my 89 3.2. Here is the conundrum: I like the original black Fuchs a lot but would rather have the larger, newer looking wheels. I feel like on a black car, the black Fuchs just disappear. If I buy these wheels, I am considering selling the Fuchs because I know that they will just sit in my garage for years anyway and I wouldn't mind offsetting the cost. However, a part of me feels like I am violating Porsche's original intention and somehow making the car "less pure". I realize that there are plenty of Fuchs out there should I ever feel the need to put them on the car again. Would you keep the Fuchs (mostly for posterity and resale value if I ever sell the car)? Would you sell the Fuchs and worry about resale value later? While I am not planning on selling the car anytime soon, do serious buyers walk away from cars without original wheels because they somehow feel that a true Porsche enthusiast would have kept the original wheels? Am I overthinking this - as usual?

If you want 17's, think about getting 17-inch Fuchs. To my eye, the later Porsche wheels don't look right on the pre-1990 cars. There's no depth to them, which just looks a little funny when you combine it with the car's old-school design.
But like others say, do what makes you happy. There's no committee making sure these cars are kept original. If there were, I'd be locked up for a long time.

I've always liked the look of newer wheels on the older cars, kind of updates to the look to modernize the classic. Keep the Fuchs if you want but I think that if you sell them you will get a decent amount depending ont heir condition and their sizes - 15s are not worth too much and 6" wide ones are not either, but 7,8,9x16s have some real value if you choose to sell them.

i prefer the fuchs but as other people have said do what makes you happy. if you sell them you can always buy another set later if you want to restore the originality.
