Exactly.

I also recruited my friend Bob from work. So it is me, nephew Jordan, Jeremy, Dave, Bob and hopefully you Doug.

Today I will have Jordan pick up a 12 point/12 mm flywheel bolt removal tool from Tool Town in SeaTac. They have a kit of 5 or 6 tools for 22$.

Dave cannot make it...something about family or something like that...I told him...this is your family man. Some people just don't have their priorities straight ;^)

David

That is great info about 1st and 2nd, That should be automatic if your pulling an engine with a 915 I would imagine if it has not been done. Nothing like the voice of experience.

With all those guys James and a few heavy lifting straps you should be able to lift the car right off the engine :-)

Oh boy, this is gonna be great.

David, thanks for the advice. I have bookmarked the rcecale post and have been studying it for months. It looks like it took him weeks, so it is interesting that it can be done in a day. I am not in a hurry. I might bring the pieces in when it comes time to remove the dogteeth, etc. I thought there was something in the post where John Walker suggests hitting the end of the shaft on a soft metal piece and all the parts fall off.

Looks like Dave the BMW mechanic is out. But it will be fun to have a bunch of newbies working on this together.

My nephew picked up the wrong tool for the flywheel bolts. He picket up a socket set, not a 12 point/12 mm tool. It kind of looks like an allen wrench tip, but with 12 points. So we'll try again tomorrow. My nephew doesn't mind being the gopher, because he gets to drive his uncle's Porsche.

only if he gets the engine in right

Well looks like I am going to miss it ..

TAke lots of great pics. BTW hitting it with a soft metal ? A brass hammer is what you need if you are going to do that .. wouldn't be without mine.

Hi James,
So what time are you guys starting on Saturday? I figure I can get on the dyno another day.
I haven't heard back from my nephew Jesse yet but I'll let you know. I'll probably just blast up for the day. It will be a good excuse to get the "P" car out for a road trip and get greasy too. It just doesn't get any better than that!! I'll grab some of the "special" tools I have just in case. If you want to email me your address and phone number @ SC4DnP@aol.com I'll try and find you. Other wise I'll just drive to the Space Needle and listen for the sounds of a bunch of guys having way to much fun!

Doug

I can't wait! This will be a blast! I am also hoping one of you guys can drive my car down the road...I swear it is running rough, but I am unsure of how to explain it.

Dave might be able to make it afterall. I told him to leave his BMW at home though. Porsche only!

Regarding the line. I believe it starts at the ticket hander outer guy (me). $10 a ticket for a 3 minute drive. Of my car...nobody go there. This is not Capital Hill ;-) (local inside joke)

See you guys this weekend!

I wrote James...I could not make it. I kept trying to leave the house but the wife kept coming up with other things she needed help with. Grrr...

How did it go? You don't know how bummed I am about not making it today!
