she looks sweet, although i prefer coupes for they are stiffer and some targas are noisy and they need to be maintained..low miles, great year..if thats the car you like, get a ppi and go for it..as far as price, you may get it a bit cheaper..good luck and keep us posted,j

For $26,000 you could buy yourself a 1991 911 (964).

well on that note you can also buy a high mileage 993 or a 99' 996..it all depends on what you want.

i have seen quite a few 993s in that price range recently (and they weren't really high mileage, which for me is over 100k at this point). i'd stay from the 99 996; the 3.4 was not the best engine porsche ever designed.

I would probably go for a pristine 914-6 if I was going to spend around $26,000 for a classic Porsche.

That looks like it might be a good car. A PPI would tell. But like the others, I think that that's solid $21-22K car. At 46K it probably has had little work done - esp after 3 owners. That means that you will have to do a lot of little things over the next few years. Calipers, rotors, brake lines, carrera gas line, H4s, ignition wires etc etc etc. Expect it & budget for it & don't pay that 'low mileage tax'.

Default I just bought my second '87 911

It is my fourth Porsche. It is a Targa sans wing. It had 43K miles. I bought it from a dealer with a 1 month warranty on motor/trans. I paid $25K. It was garage kept but had the right front fender replaced. It was my second purchase from this dealer so he just handed me the keys and said "go". 1 hour later I brought it back and bought it. It felt like a new '87 911!!! Spend some time driving it before you commit. Mid 20's for a real nice 87-89 911 is not too high. They are only going to go higher if they are well taken care of. Yes, you can buy a rat for $15K and fix it up, but that will cost more in the long run, and you would still have a fixed up rat.

I like it - and if it's well taken care of - I don't think it's out of line. Not like they are making any more of them

That's the asking price, so you know you can grind a bit off. If the car is clean by way of PPI, seems like a totally fair price and anything you get off is a bonus. Very few clean low mile examples left sitting around now. Most would consider 100K low miles for that year. Mine has just hit 38K miles and has needed nothing but regular maintenence in the last 4 years so don't get scared off with the "oh, it has been sitting and rotting" argument.

Seems the Targa is the best combo for enjoyment but still has the lowest appeal price wise. It is resale red and that's never a bad thing with a 911!!!!!!

Sharp looking car. After a PPI turns up no major issues, I would think mid $20's would be a fair counter offer. Good luck!

He is the seller and is just putting in a plug for a car he has advertised. Search his prior posts.......all 8 are "What do you think of this "91". What an ***.

Price is way to high for a Targa
