Funny you should ask, I emailed them yesterday about that Carrera... Have not recieved a reply yet.

Looks like a great car but priced very high... Could get a nice, original Turbo for that kind of cash.

Almost bought an M5 from them a few years ago and they seemed very nice... The sticking point was the price... Very high...

Tom is a nice guy at Midwest. However, this price point seems really high. I'm sure that price is an asking price and may be negotiable, but if those mods are not exactly what you are looking for, you may be paying top dollar for a car that you may have to change.

It's definitley a track car...!

Price is high. I just bought a mint, unmodified (unopened) 88 with 65k on the odo for 24k. So what are the mods worth? Well... you be the judge. Are they worth a 12k premium? Not imo. If you could get the car for 28ish, I'd probably do it. Nice color, too, even though it does not help resale value.

It seems in the past year or so, Tom really ramped up his pricing... Inventory does move there though, so something must be working for him.

I think a lot of it is consignment, i.e. the yellow 308 he had forever. FTR, I do not know Tom but have heard he is a nice guy. I tried to use him to find my Carrera, but was told it would be high 20s for what I wanted. Hmm....

Default The Betty Factor

Drew,

I know that car. Its Greg Gulik's old 911. A lightly modified, heavily tracked car, but otherwise a fairly garden variety example.

As far as I can tell, the current owner/dealer hasn't made any substantive changes to the car since Greg sold it a few years ago other than adding 12,000 miles and $13,000 to the asking price...and naming it "Betty". Quite a markup...

I would take the numerous "9 out of 10" owner/dealer evaluations in the ad with a large shaker of salt. Or two. The price would be in the top of the range for a pristine car, but that's not this car, IMO.

Whoa... that is quite the mark-up. Just had a Putz (he knows who he is) do that on my 964 that I just sold. Oh well, there entitled
I'd offer him about $20,000 for the car, seem fair?

$36K for that car? I am sure there is some sucker out there that will buy it. For that price you could get an excellent 993 with a lot less miles.

Prices are going up.

There is a nice stock red 82 Targa at a local Exotic car dealer down here asking $18,000 with over 100,000 miles on it.

I would never pay that for that car ... how well can it be maintained when the front trunk carpet is an absolute mess and they had the engine out and didn't even replace the drooping engine bay insulation. What a mes for a car being asked 36K for ...

..forgetaboutit ....

FWIW, this car at MPC sold on eBay for about half (!) of the original asking price. Maybe Tom has more room to negotiate on prices than one might expect.

Strosek Car

Almost hard to believe the price difference. Also interesting that this car was driven & reviewed by Bruce Anderson.

BTW, no affiliation.
