> there are a few rust bubbles and the body wasn't 100% but i wouldn't call the paint bad by any stretch.

I don't know. I'm a 911 newbie, but having seen what happens to Northeastern cars, I don't think I would pay this price for something that is showing signs of rust. My dad lives upstate, and he's got a TR6 (along with a mini and MG) that is mechanically sound, but it is an endless battle to keep the rust under control. There are so many clean rust free cars out West, for this price you could probably have one shipped.

It is said that the engine is the single most expensive component in a 911, but I'd hazard to guess that you could spend far more on body work chasing after rust, than doing an engine swap.

boze i've only driven/ridden in a few 911's. The car in question, a '69 T very shortly and an '86 Carrera.

I am specifically looking for a nice driver longhood. i am after that awesome sound more so than i am speed. if i were trying to find a nice SC or Carrera my search would probably be done by now . damn longhood cars are getting awful pricey relative to later 911's.

interesting, I came across this same car & recommended it to a friend (also hunting for a LN 911 RS clone). worth a closer look if you're in the market.

it is getting so that a mid year 911 w/ a solid history (no rust! no big shunts!) @ a low price is appealing for the do-it-yourselfer; you can install a 3.0 or 3.2 motor, or back-convert to long nose, or both.
