i use autohausaz.com

Hey Tony I did a quick check on all the gaskets for my exchangers, consistently cheaper at Autohausaz, but Extreme did have some stuff Autohaus did not such as exhaust studs .. but I am going to be so carefull I wont need them anyway ;-)

Botom line for me is developing a relationship with a vendor I trust and working with them, sometimes paying a little more is worth it if that is what it takes..

For OE Porsche parts, try Sunset Imports in Oregon.

Bonaturtle,

“oh, I was thinking more independent sites than that, but that'll work.”

I would say Pelican Parts is VERY independent. On the other hand they are very organized, knowledgeable and customer friendly. You almost never hear of a problem and when that happens all I hear is how properly and quickly the issue is resolved.

Pelican isn’t a huge operation. It is small enough to talk to the same person every time but large enough for you to benefit from the “economies of scale.”

You will find there isn’t a “one source for everything” supplier. Some parts are best ordered from PCNA through a Factory Dealer. There are lots of sub-specialties – hardware, aftermarket manufacturer/suppliers and more. Pelican is a good starting place for almost everything and they will direct you if they can’t supply what you need.

How can you stand two weeks waiting?
How is the insurance hunt going? Do lots of shopping. I personally use Liberty Mutual. Mutuals are like Co-ops, they are customer/policy holder “owned.” It is similar to buying your outdoors equipment from REI.

Best,
Grady

Don't have much choice waiting. Earliest I could get down is in a week, then it takes about that much time to ship.

Good things come to those who wait.

As far as insurance, Haggerty rejected me because my DD is too old, 92 Mercedes 190.

Looking at Leland West and American Collectors now.

I too vote for Performance Products and Pelican. As indicated, Performance Products has been doing this for YEARS. I have one of the first catelogs, with 356 parts and parts for the "new" 911. They have changed a bit over the years. It also helps to have a good relationship with the reps. I personally always used Davy Palmer. Great car guy. Great service. Dedicated. Great knowledge. Been there for ages. Just call and ask for him.

For the best price and to support good people, I use Pelican for big stuff. If they don't advertise the best price, call them up and they'll often price match or even give a quantity discount if you're ordering a bunch of stuff at once.

But for small stuff that I need NOW, since I'm on the East Coast, Pelican takes way too long to get here. I'v gotten good price/availability/quick service from Stoddard, which is close to you. Slightly higher prices, but good stock and same day shipping.

In the Internet age, in addition to item price you have to consider: 1) must be out of state so no sales tax, and 2) must be close enough so that ground shipping = next day delivery. Sales tax plus upgraded shipping can quickly eat up a couple of bucks cheaper price.
