This is in regards to the "Diamond Blue" 1987 Coupe that is located in Whidbey Island, Washington. The owner is Gary Funk.

According to the leakdown, number 1 cylinder leaks - 60%. This has been confirmed by 3 separate tests. The owner doesn't want to accept it. If you want to hear the truth about the car, call Chris German Motors in Bellvue WA. You can google him.

Also, a few minor issues: AC not cold, hanging caliper, needs alignment.

I made a deal to buy the car but it went south after the results. I see that it is for sale again with no disclosure. I would want someone to tell me, hence the post.

You and I seem to be looking for the same Porsche.

The one in Seattle didn't work out either? It sure looked clean.

My ideal would be a '87-'89 Silver, Meteor Grey or Diamond Blue coupe - widebody would be nice, but I'm already limiting my search and I'd really love to be a Porsche owner before I get too old!

I think there is a silver 89 for sale on pelicanparts.com. The seller is in SoCal. Check it out and good luck. I like the diamond blue color also - there is one (and 87) of those offered by victory motors but I'd be wary of buying a car from them. I'm also looking for red.

Yeah, Victory has some seemly nice cars, but I'm not even considering buying from them.

Truthfully, I'm a few weeks away from buying because I need to sell my current car - unless that perfect car suddenly materializes.

I sent the seller asking about the "engine just checked " comment . I sent an email asking for the results of the test and if there were any issues.... the ultimate omision .... he never responded ...

Well, no. I don't know of any states where the seller has to disclose known defects. Some states have that for houses - maybe Calif. does for cars. Certainly, most states do not. And good luck proving it!

NEVER expect all defects to be disclosed (some sellers won't even know - I thought my car was rust free after owning it for 4 years and taking most of it apart. But... found rust when I pulled off the fenders this year.)

Checking out the car - or other goods - is the responsibility of the buyer. And the law is very different for a commercial seller of goods than for a private party - the latter has almost no responsiblity to you.

Yes, quite right, no duty to disclose known defects for cars (unlike houses in some states). However, one might make a plausible argument about what this seller is warranting here. Also, this guy is selling his car "privately" but he is, by trade, a professional used car dealer (and new car dealer too).

But obviously most people aren't going to go to court. So, I second your caveat emptor. Cheers.
