I have seen the light, figuratively and literall in terms of weight. I sold my 90 C4 Cab a few months back and after looking since November of last year have just purchased a 1980 911SC. I know you all like pictures and I will post better ones later but here are a couple.
I thnk I will keep my username the same - Rick964 - changing it will make other people unable to find me.

The car is horrible looking. You don't want a silver 911SC.
Let me take it off your hands.
PS> I looked forever for a silver SC and couldn't find one ("settled" for light metallic blue).

Thanks guys. The car was used for autox for about 18 months back in 97-98, then the owner got hooked and built an RS replica out of another one. Previous owner had it since 97 and I have records on the car back to 94 from two owners ago.
I get the grin off my face.

Thanks Rick! Good looking coupe. You've just helped me erase the last vestiges of doubt that I may have been subconsciously supressing since I bought my first and current Porsche, an 82 SC Euro Spec. coupe that is my daily driver.
I knew NOTHING about Porsches but had to get back into a small, lightweight handler after being nearly bored to death after 74k miles in a 99 Vette.
Nearly everyone I asked recommended I buy the latest (it had to be air/oil cooled) model Porsche I could afford. I looked at SCs, Carreras and C2/4s and decided on the rawness and lighter weight of the SC.
So now I'm having a blast in my "gold plated" SC daily driver (not a trace of "but I coulda had a C4!", which I really coulda for what I'm into the SC for).
Maybe I'll see you on the road - I'm in Carlsbad.

Very nice ride.
I am in the final stages of selling my 993 so I can go back in time and get an older911 myself.
Six months to search seems about right. That's how long it took me to find my current P-car. Hopefully I'll be able to shorten my seach as now I know about Rennslist.
I'm in CBad too. Maybe I'll see you around.

Very Nice
I just recently puchased a 1978 sc white with caramel interior which was local and was a blast to test drive. I am slowly familiarizing myself to the cosmetics it may need and tune it up parts. The SC being my second car can be patient. The SC fulfilled tthe needs of wanting a pure sports car over my daily 1997 BMW m3 four sedan, the two cars really complement each other though. Humerously, the m3 feels like cadillac after driving the SC.

I had similar wonders.. our cars are nice raw sports cars but the '90 is no shabby vehicle either.. why the leap back in technology ,, I also saw someone move back from a 993 which i KNOW is a nice machine . I would be curious at to why.
