Tie Rod end attachment - up or down?

I am planning my first projects for my 81SC. The bushing between the tie rod end attachment is rubber and disintegrating. I am a little confused about something. On my car the tie rod end is below the control arm, so the nut is at the top. In the porsche workshop manual on page S2 the tie rod end is on the TOP, and on SS13 it is on the bottom.
It seems to me it would be better off on the top, because then the tie rod would be close to horizontal. Isn't that what the bump steer modification tries to do, make the rod more horizontal?
Since I need new tie rods, I will be going with the turbo tie rods. So question is...which way does it hook up, on top or below?
Thanks,
James

I didn't unerstand it either but if youa re asking about the rubber boots that cover the tie rod- rack connection there are two springs that wrap around that hold the boots in place. You will reuse the two inner ones if you are converting to turbo tie rods.
As far as the original question goes about up or down , put it back the way you take it off . realistically they will only go one way anyway as you would never get it to fit as the tie rod end is tapered to fit the taper in the control arm.
good luck , this is an easy project, get the 101 projects if you don't have it already.

Thanks. The photo looks just like mine now, just not turbo. The tie rod end is on the bottom, so I guess that is how I will do it. I haven't taken it apart yet, but the tapered end is something I have read about, so sounds good.

it was the gaitors i was referring to they are very difficult to get onto the rack end and the tie rod end i have been told on another forum the turbo gaitors require no clips or zip ties

Guess I have never heard th term "gaitors" before. If the gaitors are the rubber boots mine were held on with two springs, a small slotted screwdriver did the job no problem, just slipped it under in one spot and ran it around. Putting it back was the same.
