Does anybody run a muffler bypass pipe on their daily driver? How about the OEM exhaust? Best aftermarket exhaust for the 3.2? Just curious what some of you have and your impressions.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have the Fabspeed euro premuffler and the dual outlet muffler. Great sound
if you like it loud and throaty. There are lots of other choices for good exhausts
for the 3.2, it is a matter of money or special requirements like sound or looks or horse
power.
Good Luck

SSIs and a Dansk 2/1 muffler on my 3.0 CIS. NICE!!! Not too loud, but good throaty rumble at idle with a righteous wail at full throttle. Very satisfying without being overly loud, and no resonating at certain RPMs. It is also something one could live with daily (though it is not my daily driver).

I have a cat bypass pipe and single outlet 75mm Stainless Steel Monty. Sound is just right, not too loud but really growls as the revs approach redline. If anything, it could be a little louder but I didn't want to cut the valence for the twin outlet Monty.

If your are asking about a muffler bypass on the end of a cat bypass or a euro premuffler (pretty much the same thing) it is TOO FREAKIN' LOUD. I couldn't get past 2 grand without setting off car alarms and waking the dead.

I've got a euro pre-muffler and Dansk Sport muffler (1 in, 1 out) on the '84 Carrera...nice sound! It is not a bad setup for the street, but you know the engines back there. I'm probably going to sell the Dansk Sport and get a Monty this winter. I like the Monty's sound a little better.
The '77 has SSI's and an OEM muffler from a 74 911 (2 in, 1 out). It's pretty tame as far as noise goes.

umm... 911 surprise me so much. Base on my past experience on any car, a muffler can make big diff. in loundness, and running without cat can make you deaf.
But on my friend 94 911 turbo, he is running catless and a B&B muffler => not lound at all. It is nice and quiet (of course lounder than stock).
Now my car, 89 non-turbo, with Borla muffler and cat is still there => LOUND as hell. No girl can sit in my car for 1/2 hour and can walk straight. No one can sit in my car for 1/2 without a headache.
What is it that make my friend's turbo so quiet?

Exhaust
The non-technical answer to the Turbo exhaust being so much quieter is the turbo charger uses the energy of the exhaust to spin the turbo instead of using that energy to make noise, therefore it is quieter compared to the same exhaust on a non-turbo engine.

butzip,
what is it better in a turbo muffler beside the flow pipe is bigger in diameter and therefore it flows better? Sorry if there is anything obvious that I don't know. Just want to gain my knowledge.
Thanks
