which radio for 911 from 1980 onwards ?
Hello to all !
I am new to rennlist so please dont worry if this question is posted once again:
Is there an overview which radio came in what year with the 911 in the 80# and 90# ?
e.g. my 84 carrera has a Blaupunkt Köln SQR 22
What origial radio does your car have - if so ?

Welcome to Rennlist Uli. I see you're from Stuttgart, home of our fine beasts. What car do you have?
btw my May 87 build US Cab came with Option 158 Blaupunkt "Orlando" Radio
Piece of crap.

I assume you switched to newer radios?
I just did it the other way round: I removed the new "Porsche CDR 22" and refitted the 84 "Köln".
I just love it for its genuine look. With an adapter cassette it can be linked with an MP3 player so lots of music with a reasonable sound and no CD`s in the car.
Besides 80 km/h, any radio is useless in a 911.
@Ian: actually in Leonberg (you wont know it) and its a 1984 targa (231 PS)

My 85 (Japan model) has a Panasonic AM/FM radio with a casette player. I use it with an iPod+FM transmitter so I don't care about it functionality, but speakers are crap. (they are still original).
And Uli, I also want to know how you keep your engine so clearn.

Hhmmm....although I wanted to discuss original Blaupunkt radios in SC / C1 .....I must admit, that the fan and its case had benn painted one/two year ago. But before, they had been very carefully (!!) "sand-blasted" (?).
Please, don`t polish them - you risk to get serious damage to the bearing of the alternator (?) behind.
Actually, the car has 73 tkm (how much is this in miles?) and very rarely sees rain.
Any comments on blaupunkt radios ..... ?
BTW:where may I get the old "Porsche Shell TMO" engine bay sticker ?
