Thanks for the help. Have you used this type?

I don't have a stand yet but these are the pieces I'm thinking of getting.

I've looked at this piece as well as the yoke that Performance Products has. The part that Mainley offers looks good I'm just currious if it's strong enough. My guess is that it woould be OK as long as you don't go cheap on the engine stand. Let me know if you get one and what you think.

I'm using the setup first mentioned (Mainely yoke + generic stand) and I am very happy with it and have no fears about stability. The yoke is machined to fit nicely and holds firm regardless of how much I wrench on the engine.

The generic stand I'm using, by the way, is the 1000 lb Harbour Freight stand for about $50 (I think) which, to my surprise, seems well made enough. Recomended in addition to the Mainely yoke.

Thanks Brian,
I think that's the way I'll go. I Just wanted to make sure it was safe to hang my "precious" engine on.
Also good to know that the Harbour Freight unit is working out. I'll check into that also.

Take care,
Doug

I got the HF stand rated at double the weight of a full 911 engine just in case. This IS Harbour Freight were talking about!

I know what you mean. The last thing I want to do at this point is scrimp on an engine stand!
