Hi All,

Is there any performance difference?

As I understand it, there is no performance difference.

Maybe Steve Weiner of RennSport will chime in as he sells them and is very knowledgeable about their performance.

No differences in HP, only sound level.

How 'bout tossing a few hundred in a shipping container and sending it up here?

I'll give you $50 and a free salmon.

I'm very very happy with my Monty 2/1 muffler with SSIs on my 83 SC. It's plenty loud without sounding out of character with this type of car. It sounds exotic.

I had the Fabspeed straight pipes on a 2002 C4S. It was FRIKKING AMAZING. On track or at autocrosses I'd have people coming up to me gushing about how awesome it sounded.

BUT it got a bit old for daily driving, I loved it on track, but not on the street.

I just sent Steve an email about the Monty and SSI (headers I assume?) for my SC. Cost could make or break my decision to do it, but how would someone with SSI/Monty on an SC compare it to 996 with Fabspeed straight pipes ? It must be a bit more tolerable, right ?

eh its not too loud with just normal driving, now at WOT you can tell its a straight pipe. and the best part was the price 360 shipped. i didnt do headers or anything like that tho.

I didn't mean a fabspeed bypass deal, I meant SSI/muffler combo compared to my SC stock setup. I've learned that SSI/muffler without cats won't allow me to pass my local inspection sniff test and I don't want to play the 'swap back to stock once a year for the inspection game', so if I'm going to change from stock SC setup to something else, that 'something else' must have some sort of cats, so now I'm on a mission to find the best SSI/cat/muffler setup with some sort of hi-flow cat that would be worth the cost of changing. GHL's system looks good but I don't know if anyone here can comment on that one... It's pricy.

all you have to do is swap your cat, thats a real small peice. its simple too, doesnt dansk make a nice high flow cat?? problem is thats pricey along then a cat back is even more.

Just put one in the car (dual in single out 3"). Sound wicked at idle, yet to go through the full rev range.

It is quite a bit bigger than my 74 OEM muffler but weight about 200g lighter
