It's pricey, but if it is as nice in person as it looks in those pics, it's not all that bad of a deal IMO. It is a low mile G50 car, and everything looks pristine. Like the seller points out, if you want a good example of a vintage 911, this is definitely it.
Think of it this way...let's say you had a 1988 Red Carrera Coupe with decent but not perfect paint, 110,000 miles, good shape, needs a couple of things here and there....that car is probably worth $21,000-$23,000. Now, if you had that car and I said to you that, for a mere sum of $4,000, I could make your paint shiny again, renew the interior, upgrade the mats, restock missing parts like air compressor, AND wave a magic wand and reduce miles by 60,000....it would be a hellova cheap restoration!

eh, they are all starting to climb, in 10-15 years you would be kicking yourself for not buying it at that price...........I think its fair as long as as it gets a clean bill from a PPI

Yeah, as the others have said, that is a premium price. By about 5K. But it is low mileage & presumably well-serviced - in 38K, there has probably not been a lot done anyway. Is it worth it? Hmmm.
Talk to the PO & see if he'll allow a PPI. If no, then move on. If yes, then wait until the end of the auction & if it doesn't sell, make him an offer. If it sells for asking or more, then it was too much.

OK guys, go back to those pics. I really dislike trying to evaluate a car using pics, but the left rear of the car looks higher than the right rear, which makes the car appear more "level" on the right side side-shot, and have more of a forward rake on the left side side-shot. I realize that the car's front wheels are turned, pictorial drama?, and that the concrete does not appear close to level. What do you think, photo illusion?
Regarding the price, Sports Car Market Magazine, issue 3/05, pegs the car between $21,500 and $24,500. The mag states that those values "reflect a retail buying and selling range for cars in very good to near excellent condition - significantly above a daily driver and one step below regional concours..." The prices assume cars have "no stories attached," and an automobile priced above the guide is not necessarily overpriced.

FYI During my search, I saw one 'perfect' car. An 81 Coupe with 72K miles but perfect paint - original with 1 - yes 1 - stone chip. All documents. Sport seats without a blemish. Original box for the compressor. The gloves. You name it, it was perfect. The only negative found was winter oil leaks because he used Mobile 1 (although this might have been more than meets the eye). It sold for $18.5K mid last year.

In my area, this car would be priced at $29,900 by a dealer and sell in a weekend for about $26k. I would also assume that a private party sale would be in the mid $20k range here. When G-50 cars like this do pop up here, they are around only for days since demand exceeds supply.
Just my $.02

In my opinion the car will not sell on ebay for the asking price. If you are seriously interested, than wait for the auction to close and contact the seller to arrange a telephone conversation to settle on the price. I would pay 25K for the car if I had the funds and the PPI and title history checked out ok. My bet is that you could get it for even less than 25K though. Good luck!

My guess is he will be keeping it then... My 91 964 with 40K on her, in at least as good condition, didn't sell for the $28K I asked, no way that 88 is worth the same $$$. $23K would be fair, especially in an auction situation.
