Default motormeister question

I'm looking for a porsche 911 ( see seperate thread), but i've run across a local 77 911 that's in very nice condition, but needs a new motor.

seller recommended purchasing a 3.0 motor from motormeister and said two local shops could install the motor for about $1,250

motormeister wants about $3,600 for the 3.0 motor.

does the $1,250 install price sound reasonable?

I am located in northern maryland

what other install costs am I liable to run into in the engine exchange...

thanks in advance...

Do a search, here and on the Pelican site, on Motormeister before you make any commtiments.

[QUOTE=jjj0923...seller recommended purchasing a 3.0 motor from motormeister ....:[/QUOTE]

After that recommendation, I'd view this seller with extreme caution also....

$3600 didn't even cover the labor cost of my rebuilt 3 liter motor. I did entertain the idea of a $3600 rebuilt motor..then I got sober. Basically, he is replacing broken parts, re -ringing, new gaskets and thank you very much. So you are buying a high mileage motor with high mileage critical parts...oil pump, oil cooler and P/C. My 3 liter rebuild was 15k when all was said and done. It was bumped up to 3.2 ss P/C, 964 cams, new oil pump and oil cooler. New valves, springs, guides etc. The stuff adds up..then there was as long as you are in there..clutch, axles, alt, starter..SSI's, Dansk. I very happy with the results..great performance and very little worry about the car leaving me stranded. I would re-think the car you are looking at.
