Post Got my '87 Targa today!

I just picked up my '87 Targa today! I'd like to thank everyone on the list that helped me out on my last posting regarding the car's price based on the PPI.

Also, to anyone who needs a car loan for an older car. Try People First (BTW - I don't work there). I was very pleasanly surprised by their level of service. I got the loan approved overnight, a loan check in two days, and a great rate (even better than my credit union).

Well, I'm off to take another ride!

Thanks r22tek. I don't have a digital camera, but will get some pics soon. BTW - I ended up getting the car for a great price: $16.9k.

Man, that's awesome. I didn't divulge this info. before, but I paid $25k plus tax for my 85 targa-blk/blk, 39,000 miles, stock minus the fuchs and stereo. I added the correct size and year fuchs, kept the stereo, took 2nd place in Concours d' Elegance last May. Cost about $1,500 more to get it to that level. I'm happy with it, as it was EXACTLY the car I wanted, BUT... I cringe when i see nice examples like yours picked up for such a good price. You should be very satisfied. Enjoy!

p.s. on the bright side-I was able to pay for my car with the proceeds from a 2 month investment of $8,900.00 when the stock market was crazy, so I'm not complaining by any means.

I got really lucky on the price (the mechanic who did the PPI told me to jump on the car at $18,000). The car only has 66,000 miles and is in pretty good original condition. There are some minor issues, but all in all, I think I got a great deal.

The market was definitely a big factor. The seller was also highly motivated. However, if you bought your car on an investment of approx. $9,000, it sounds like you made out like a bandit!

In all seriousness though, the car has been great. I took it out for 3 hours today and I couldn't get the grin off of my face.

Man, this just makes me cringe! $17K! I know there is a currency conversion to factor here but for the same Car we'd pay better than $50,000.00 Aus I'd reckon. $17K??!! Bugger!

Cheers,
Sean.

alee,

Welcome to the exclusive fraternity of targa owners. It is a proven fact that long legged blondes prefer to be seen in the passenger seat of a targa. I have to keep explaining this to my wife...

Have fun with your car!

That may be true, but it's also a proven fact that short-legged blondes prefer to be in the driver's seat of a cabriolet!

Thanks, but I'm having so much fun, I'd even sit in the back seat (I'm 5'11") and let someone else drive!

I WON"T get into any seat of my Cab except the drivers seat (unless I'm fiddling with something that can't be reached from the drivers seat). Congrats on the great deal. I know that Porsche "deals" are few and far. I picked mine up in November 1999. A 1989 Carrera Cab triple black with 63,000 km (40K miles), stock, mint for $39,000 Canbucks ($25,500 US). This was also a true bargoon and from a dealer no less. Up here in the great white north, nobody wants to carry a Cab through the winter.
