I have been lusting over a '85 Cab listed for $18.9
Checked it out a number of times already. Has wet dreams about it.
It was my un-decisivenss that hurt me.
As summer is approaching fast, the dealer raised the price to $19.9
Car was sold earlier this week.
How depressing.
Is this a seller's market or what?!!!

It's been my experience that nice cars (well kept cars that need little in the way of maintenance and repairs) that are priced fairly move very quickly in my area. If the car has been sitting around awhile, it's probably a dog or it's priced too high.
The economy is improving as a whole, so demand for these "toy" type cars seems to be increasing again.

A used car guy I was talking with spoke of a line which they use in the industry:
"When the top goes down, the price goes up."
(I'm pretty sure he was speaking about cars...)
Nice Cabrios or Targas sell the best around this time of year.
Good luck in your continuing search.

I went to the dealer auction about a month ago with a dealer firend of mine and we were both shocked at the prices of all the 993 and earlier 911's that went through. There appears to be strong demand right now. In April I sold my 87 targa which was in excellent condition for 18.5 it had 107,600 miles on it.

Its not a case of snoozing Jer, the top cars were going fortop dollars at whats supposed to be a dealer wholesale market. Tuff for these guys to make a living at this when so many of these sham dealers bring a ton of client orders to fill. Place has really changed in the years Ive been going.
I beleive the internet has changed the business like its changed so many other businesses.

I'll agree with you there trader - my point was more on the nice cars - if they are really nice cars - they don;t sit around for long - especially if they are of the drop top variety with the weather warming up.
Me - I purposely looked for a convertible during the winter months in cold places - got a sweet deal in chicago 5 days before christmas
