Default "New" Porsche finally here!!!

After a solid of year of reading up on 911's and another 6 months of looking, I finally bought a 1986 Carrera. I uses DAS to ship it. Cheap, but it took 13 days to get to Michigan from Florida.
Anyway, my wife and I went down to Detroit to pick it up on Monday and it would not start!!!! Turns out the battery had just drained down, so no big deal. Put it on the charger on Monday night, went cruising on tuesday. WHAT A BLAST!!!!!!!!!! I love it. All the frustration during the search and having to deal with dishonest people was worth it. The car is not perfect, but for the money I had to spend it is super.
I am sure I will have many questions in the days to come.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my numerous posts in the previous months. Your help was invaluable.

I would like to include some of my "favorite" occurances during my search:

1. Most disappointing: Seller in Ohio who told me how good everything was with his 911. Settled on a price and the PPI came back bad. The guy put it on ebay and lied about everything about the car on his ebay ad!
2. Most disheartening: Settled on a price again on another 911. Ready to fly out on Friday to pick it up. Owner of the Shop doing the PPI bought it from under me....sends me an email saying "this is how I do business" I dont want to mention any names because his name pops up on rennlist every now and then, but I have a pretty low opinion of the person.
3. Best lines (same seller)

(after a year...yes a year on the market) Well, you might want to get the cash to me soon. First person with the money gets it. (That was in April, its still for sale)

If you dont do the PPI, I can work with you more on the price.( He seriously said this!)

Anyway, thanks again for all the advice. Now all I have to do is try to wrestle the keys away from my wife. She really enjoyed driving it yesterday as well.

We want photos! (please).
Also would be nice to have the name of the shop who bought the car out from under you and then was belligerent about it. This would help protect others from this shop.

MP.... guy's version of a new baby... prepare for a lifelong love... these cars really grow on you. I've had my 84 for over a decade now and use it as a daily driver... snows go on in the winter and keep going... every time I consider selling it and buying a later model car, I just can't bring myself to do it.

To me there is something really direct about these cars that the later models, for all their positives... just can't match... plus they don;t depreciate and are really quite inexpensive to operate if you stay on top of them.

Enjoy

I hope this works. These are not the best pictures, but they are all I have at the moment.

Good, the pictures are showing up. Now if I can just get rid of this stupid grin I will be all set. My face is starting to hurt.

I think you need to get your wife her own Porsche! We are a two Porsche family: his: 1992 968, hers: 1980 911SC. I love my SC so much that we are going on a PCA club tour and each taking our own cars!!

Congrats on your new baby.
