Default Anyone looking to sell their 911?

I tried posting this in the car locator, but it did not take. I am looking for a 1980 or newer 911. I would prefer one with a transmission, engine rebuild. I like black or red for the exterior color. I have looked at several so far. The one I was looking at in Columbus failed its PPI ......badly. I have about $10,000 to spend

Hmmmmm...you may find a solid SC for 10k, but it is definitely going to be a 'driver'. Do you watch E-bay? Also check www.cars.com. They have a good round up of cars listed in newspapers and websites.

Sorry, my Targa ain't fer sale

Have you tried autotrader's website? Lots to see there.

I have looked at autotrader, cctol.com and cars.com. Like I said I have looked at 3 cars seriously and have been unsuccessful. I was really hopeful that the one I had the PPI done on today would be the it, but no luck!

What were the issues that came up in the PPI?

A no issues SC with fresh engine & tranny rebuild might be a tough find for $10,000 (but not impossible).

Michael,
You don't give your location. However, if you are anywhere near Pennsylvania, you will something like 100-200 Porsche Cars for sale in the Corral at the Central PA Region Hershey Porsche Only Swap on Saturday, April 23.
regards,
Steve

I am in Michigan. The PPI came up with the exhaust system needed to be replaced and the need for an engine rebuild. I guess the shop had already done an estimate on the work for a previous owner. It was leaking pretty bad.

I'm considering selling my 84 Carerra (does not need motor or trans rebuilt, about 80k miles now), but not at $10k...like is said above, your looking at an SC to be in that price range for 1980 or newer, but even then it will be a tough search to find one with a fresh rebuild on the trans and motor...

Good Luck, let us know if you find something

Default Try working with the local chapter of the PCA

I will try to post on Thursday information on a local car for sale that is listed in the SE Michigan PCA news letter. I think the asking price on the car was $12,500 area. I think it was an SC with an early 80's 3.2 installed.

Check the PCA website as I believe the SE MI chapter is having a new member meet and greet at Munks this Saturday. I think this would be a great place to ask about what might be for sale in the local area. I am sure that you will be able to get some leads as the club officers will be in attendence.

Also, the SE MI chapter is holding their spring drive event on May 1st. After the drive we will end up a Baker's in Milford to attend the car show. There should be 25 to 30 cars in attendence.

I just bought my 86 Carrera from a guy in Santa Fe NM. It was listed several places (Rennlist, PCA Mart, collectorcartraderonline) but the 1st place I looked every day was the PCA site. I too looked for help from the local PCA guys and they were very helpful and honest. The best part of picking up thecar is that I gotto drive it home to Orlando. I took 2-1/2 days and put over 2,200 miles on it without a single burp or bobble. Hersey would be a great place to look, but make sure you've got "Cash". There will likley be more than 30 911's to chose from at the swap meet and that was going to be where I was next to visit.
Have fun, drive as many 911's as you can even if they are ones that you know are out of your ($) reach. Rember, the car you really want is out there, it's just that you need to cross it's path.

Try here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/forum...s=&forumid=240

Not sure about your price point, but most of these sellers are Pcar people...so that's a good start.

Check back regularly...

Well last year was my only trip to Hershey but there was no where near 100 cars for sale in the pen. I have bought and sold quite a few 911's over the years and I dont see cars with recent rebuilds going in the 10k range.
