1974 911 CARRERA

It is totally dependent on condition and records. What sort of history is there? What is the condition of the car? You can look at the NADA values(for the US anyway), but I have always found those values pretty high.

The ROW Carrera is a good value, in that they don't sell for anywhere near Carrera RS prices (or even 67-73 911S prices), but have the MFI 2.7 motor.
But condition is everything on these cars. The price range could be very broad.

The car I am looking is in very good original condition, with the correct engine number, but has had a professional change of color. The engine has been rebuild with OE parts 15000 Km ago.
There is no records, unless for the engine rebuild and no owner's manual.

Rust. Beware of rust and 'hidden' damage that will cost a bundle to repair. Perform a THOROUGH PPI at a REPUTABLE shop (of your choosing of course!) and see if it is worth the asking price.
Asking what any particular year or model Porsche is worth is equivalent to asking what a good woman should weigh.
It obviously depends on MANY factors besides age and outward appearance.
A mint 74 Carrera might fetch $25,000 if the buyer is pleased with 100% of the car, but to you it may not be worth $17,000 because it is a uncommon/undesirable color.
I looked at one for a fellow lister about 6 years ago. It was a 7 of 10 visually/asthetically, etc. he was asking $14,000 and it was not worth doing a PPI at that price.

Dan,
If you find a mint '74 Carrera 2.7 for $25K let me know and I will give you 20% more for it. These cars are very hard to find in nice condition and have become much more expensive than mid $20K. There were only about 1500 made in '74 and 75, but never were loved like the Carrera RS even though they share the same engine. As a result they suffered much more attrition and are hard to find in nice shape.
993GT2,
Yes, the color change will hurt the value unless it was Brown to Orange I have good friend looking for a nice '74 Carrera 2.7 with the original ducktail so if you decide to pass on this car please pass the information on me please. Thanks.

I too, was thinking US Carrera rather than the "Euro".
Randy is also correct about the "better than a '75tho" comment as there were no specific smog components on the 74 models to differentiate them as CA equipped from any other US destination. The 75s received the dreaded thermal reactors and they have a story all their own.
Again, I was talking US Carrera.
Done with my ramble....
