Default Factory TL: how to check it?

Hi all,

I'm planning to buy what the sellers says is a factory TL. I would like to know how could I verify it's the real thing.

Regards,

Mikla

It should have option M491 listed on the option code list on the sticker on the underside of the front trunk. The brakes should also have 930 calipers.

Thanks Ian,

Fact is that if the sticker is not available (i.e. new paint), how could I recognize the 930 calipers?.

Thanks in advance

You also might want to check with somebody at the M491 site Here

Here is a 930

Here is a Carrera

The factory handbook that comes with the car may also have a sticker that lists the option codes.

Weren't the rear 930 calipers on the tail side of the rotor in factory installs, or something?

Aha. So, forward on a fake, but in the back on the real thing.

(Not that there's anything wrong with the fakes. I drive a fake RSR.)

I could finally see and test drive the car. It was in fact a "fake" 3.2 Carrera. Car looked quite good, but still needed some money on it. 217k kms and a major engine rebuilt at 188k. Engine was very smooth and suspension was really firm.

Asking price was 16.500 Euros. Not bad, but I'm not sure if I should put the money on a non-factory turbolook.

Thanks for your help.

When I was car shopping last year I came across an alleged TL without a sticker confirming it. I called a local Porsche dealer and the service writer ran a check on the VIN and confirmed it was a TL.
