Where can I find some info on turboing my 87 911? I just got this car a few months ago and want to start adding power to it, but I have no idea where to start.

You may want to consider dropping in a 3.6L engine, which are available, and likely more reliable than adding an aftermarket turbo. Take a look at what changes Porsche made to the Turbo engines to make them pretty much bullet proof. Oh, don't forget to upgrade your brakes to handle the extra power, as well as the suspension.

i upgraded to a turbo motor in my car and love it but if i were to do it all over again i would have sold it and bought a turbo. By the time you get done with all the work you are going to have to do you would have been able to buy a turbo and save alot of money.

I'm with him on this one, by the time your done it would cost you more than a 930 would have to start with. unless your attached to the car and dont care about $$$$

Interesting thread. FYI, when people ask me boosting questions on the V6 Taurus SHO which is 9.8:1 stock, I always suggest limiting to 6psi street, 9psi absolute max before dropping the CR with a Vortech. I was running 15psi on my S-Trim charger with 9.0:1 JE forged pistons, making about 505hp on the SHO's Yamaha-built 3.2L, which was enough to consistently shred 3rd gear - I wonder how the 915 would hold up to 400+hp?.

I think I'd probably follow the same route as suggested here though - sell the N/A 911 & look for a turbo to start with if I were that serious about it. You end up putting far more in than just the price of the upgrade kit in the long run, 9 times out of 10. Of course an engine replacement with more power & torque always on tap, naturally-aspirated is an excellent choice, if the budget & engineering allow it.

Let's say making 380 rwhp is pretty easy with a 930 turbo. Getting over 400 requires EFI - similar to what you have done. It just takes money.
