I need some help please...(PICTURES)
I really dont know much about the 911. I have a 86 951 and love it but we just traded in a 71 911 with the 2.7 in it. The car has been pretty much restored. It is red with the duck tail also added. I would say the paint is about a 7. Inside about a 6 or a 7. The guy put a 76 2.7 in it, with about 30k on the new motor. The motor and everything was over 8500. He does not have any records b/c he said he did everything him self. The windshield has about a 5 in crack also. I can post pics later. The car also runs great. And it has 79,800 on the clock. Just wanted to get a ball park price what would be a good buy.

Price estimates on a car like that would be all over the map. Is it a stock '76 2.7? Does the car have the original 901 tranny? What other upgrades/modifications have been done to the car?

Don't agree that 2.7's were notorious for oil leaks, all 911 engines are prone to oil leaks (even the new water-cooled generation unfortunately), however they are considered one of the weakest Porsche engines - particularly in the US because of the high temperatures they were designed to run at to pass emisions tests. If the engine has been overhauled you need to know what was done - suggest you read the relevant chapters of the Dempsey book "How to rebuild a 911 engine" written around the 2.7 Ltr. This will give you the questions to fire and you will be able to look at the engine and see if some of the external mods have been done.
Seems odd to have a '71 and replace the original engine with won of Porsche's weakest?
