901 Final Drive Ratio
How can I find out which final drive ratio I have (without taking the tranny apart)? The car is a 1969 911S.
What about the gears? I know that a stock 67 S would have AFMSX how about 69 S?

1969 911S has a 901/07 or a 901/13 gearbox both have same ratios but /07 is die cast and the /13 is pressure cast. The ratios are a-f-m-s-z with a 7:31 ring and pinion. The number should be stamped on gearbox, custom ratios were available and would have a different /XX stamped.

Is there a database where I could find the other numbers? (that is if /xx is different than /07 or /13) I will check mine to see what I have.

Get yourself the "Porsche 69,70,71 911T,911E,911S Technical Specifications" handbook that Porsche publishes, available at your dealer or go to <a href="http://WWW.MY-Porsche.com." target="_blank">WWW.MY-Porsche.com.</a> This is a small pocket handbook, Porsche number 4210.20, with all information on serial numbers and other tech information. Otherwise email me with your trans number and I'll look it up.

I just went to My-Porsche and the Tech books are apparently no longer available. Too bad, they are a great source of information, I've been buying them for years.
