I just picked up a 77' 911s and was wondering about wheel options for this model. I've heard that there really aren't any options for the narrow body 911's and would simply like to hear what you have to say.
Thank you,
Aaron

I put 7" fuchs front and rear on my 70 with 205 60 tires. The rears were fine the front rubbed slightly, so I rolled the fenders. Pretty sure these were 944 offset wheels... but I'm not certain. I would guess you could do 6" and 7" with no problem.
Some guys can get 8" wheels with 225 tires on the back of the narrow body cars, but these need to be custom offset, and probably require rolling the fenders, and serious camber.... I'd condider this a track setup.... this is overkill for the street.
These cars are light enough that they handle pretty well with 205 tires, so other than cosmetic issues, you don;t need to get nuts with wheels

Aaron,
Depends if you wish to keep orginality.
The standard was 6 X 15" taking 185/70's front and back but the factory option was 7 X 16" (205/55) front and 8 X 16" (225/50) rear.

"Thank you for your help. I'm going to look for a set of the factory 16's."
I have 15's, not 16's on my 77. I have no idea how well 16's will fit. My guess (underline "guess") is that 16's may not have fit so easily with the same tire and rim sizes on my car.

16x6 is no prob and you get the advantage of a bigger tire selection. 16x7 on the rear will probably need a camber adjustment and a fender roll. The way to go is SC rear flares for many rear wheel options.

Diameter of the wheels doesn't matter as long as you reduce the tire profile accordingly. I really doubt you can get 7s and 8s on a stock narrow body car, but as I said, I believe the wheels I was using were 944 offset... for good or ill.
Also, there were 7/8 x 15 wheels for the SC... they are not common, most cars came with the 6/7x16s..... but sure as heck have to be cheaper than an RSR part.... if you can find them.... of course this doesn't mean they would fit either.
