Question Q: high octane in YOUR state?

Hey all. I've been scouring the web for a list of high octane *commonly* available to consumers at the pump on a state-by-state basis. I can't find a thing.

Here in California it's a whopping 91. How about where you are?

As comments come in, I am compiling a list here:

I can't believe the highest you have is 91! Why would the state limit the octane rating of all things? Anyway, here in NJ, the standard premium is 93 at gas stations, with the exception of Sunoco which has 93 as their premium and 94 as their "ultra". I use 93 octane in my 964 and BMW (and, although definitely not necessary, in our weekend toy-1978 volkswagen beetle- although that could probably run on tap water )

You can find some "specialty" gas stations that have 100 or higher at the pumps here. You just have to pay the extra buck a gallon or so.

It's a crock that they don't have 92 octane at all stations anymore though.

Bob, 76's website lists stations with available race gas. Luckily I have one just 5 miles away, though at 4.69gal it cost me about $3 to replicate the 93 octane I bought in Vermont on vacation for $1.79. Mike

In NH, Premium is 93 but Sunoco 94 is available at Sunoco stations. It was available in Watkin's Glen NY last time I was there.

FWIW, my partially completed list is here: www.autoworldmarketing.com/octane.htm

It'd be great to hear from Listers in these areas (now edited):

Alabama
Alaska
Hawaii
Idaho
Iowa
Kansas
Maine
Minnesota
Montana
North Dakota
South Dakota
Wyoming

Thanks to all.

Washington, D.C. is the same as Virginia and Maryland: Super is at 93 for the most part, though some have 94.
