anybody have old carrera speaker grills for the rear deck
#2
When I needed door speaker grills for my '84, the local stereo shop let me graze through a huge container of discarded grills from their installations. found two that matched and fit and they wouldn't take any money. When my rear speakers died (too much sun) I replaced them and found the replacements had much better grills.

I've been searching my butt off and nothing, stereo stores good for door grills but not 4x6.
I can't even find any online, even rare on pelican. I think I might have to wait for someone to come along, or maybea swap meet.

speaker grill
What part do you need, I have replacement parts that were cnc machined out of aluminum billet for the plastic speaker grill surround. If you have the existing metal/ wire mesh grill you can pop it into the new metal surround and your set. The plastic surround bakes in the sun and eventually falls apart. You will have too paint them or they could be polished. The material is 6061 billet.
Send me your address and I will mail two of them to you. If you think they are of value send me a check for postage and what you think they are worth

grill
I just like to make stuff and the plastic surrounds in my 87 carrara broke from uv exposure. We wrote a program and made some out of alumnium. They are exact copies and can be painted, polished, or anodized. If you have them anodized make sure you tell the operarator that they are 6061 alloy.
If you paint them try "wrinkle paint". Use multiple lite coats and the wrinkle texture will almost look like the originals.
If you don't like the results you can always strip them and start over

I have had a similar dilemma, but my problem is that the replacement speakers' tweeter sticks out farther than the rest of the speaker surface and the stock grills are too shallow. I'm looking for a way to raise the grills above the center tweeter. Can you make these out of thicker material than the originals? I would certainly be interested if you can. Possibly would even consider doubling-up with two pair just to get grills on these speakers if necessary.

Banker: They arrived yesterday. I have to say, I'm impressed with the workmanship. I'll try to wet sand them smooth and paint this weekend, and then install next weekend. Very nice job. I'm thoroughly impressed.
