Thanks, Bill. I guess it just tells me that if the engine was swapped out, it was swapped with the same kind. Thanks again. Bill - I'm still a newbie Porschefile -I thought 930 was the turbo. Is it appropriate to refer to my normally aspirated '87 911 as a 930?

no, your car is a 911, a 930 is a turbo charged variant of the 911 chassis, but the share part # prefixes back and forth on the parts, but if its got fat fenders, and a tail with an intercooler hiding in there, its a 930

doesnt that mean its a 930 case (ie shares the same engine case as a 930).
all 912's and 356's have case numbers 616/XX (xx is the year.. a 1969 912 will have case number 616/40)
im asuming it may be the same kinda thing for those engines?

it IS a 964 case so it has naturaly a 964 number
good thing as the water pumper case can barley cope with a meager 300 let alone when they bumped it to 3.6 liters, but that 964 case can take in excess of 800hp all day long.
