removed my exhaust system from my 83 3.0 and went to put my SSI's on when I noticed I had a problem. I need new oil lines that will not be in the way of the headers. Can I use a pre 75 911 oil line? thanks

Do you have a performance products catalog? if so I'm pretty sure it's their #s 901684 73-74 oil pump to engine the other as I recall is 901697 Engine to ft oil cooler thermostat. Call the to verify. I should be able to get factory #s on monday from our supplier. Thats the best I can do for now. We have done many of these coversions but our online stuff is not real clear as to the factory #s. Hope this helps.

From http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...911REC_pg1.htm
Oil Line Update: It is important to note that all cars with cross-over exhaust systems (all 1978-89 911SC and Carrera) require the replacement of two oil lines with two older-style ones when installing the SSI heat exchangers (or any 1974 and earlier exhaust). These lines are part numbers C-107-728-00 (cars with a front-mounted cooler) and C-107-729-10 (no front-mounted cooler) and C-107-739-10 and are available for purchase below.

Jim, you are correct. I've listed all the lines to connect the thermostat.
His car is already equipped with 9110773011 tstat to oil tank, so he only needs the other two.

I do not have a front oil cooler. Is there anyway I can make my own line or bend my old lines. Would really like to get it to work today, if I order the lines it will take a week.

They are not that expensive. I don't know about the "J" pipe that loops under the bell housing, but the "J"pipe to T-stat line was about US$96.00 from Parts heaven. There MAY also be an issue with the size of the nipple that threads into the engine case where the line connects. IT is an issue on some cars, but I can't remember which ones. Call Jeff @ Parts Heaven, 1-800-767-7250 and he'll know. BTW the J pipe is a hardline, the other hose is rubber to the tank (if no T-stat)
Last, do yourself a favor and get the right line wrenches I THINK they are 28 and 32 mm. Is that right guys?

It doesnt have an oil cooler because the motor is in 74 chasis. I run at about 210-230. I am considering putting in a oil cooler but I really dont want to pay another 2k for one.

I can understand the reluctance to spend the cash. I put mine in for about$900 CDN, but I scrounged for parts sold privately and scrounged used parts, etc. Sure made a huge difference in the temps though.
Hope you are enjoying the 911. I remember your early posts when you first got it.
Good luck with your project.

Ya,
I am really enjoying the car but my wallet sure as heck isnt. Oh well nothing is free. I have to spend my money on something. Just picked up my oil lines $266.00. It will be worth though. thanks
Jake
Yes I think the oil cooler should be next.
