Searched but maybe I suck at searching. Apologies for repetition but is there a list anywhere where we've shared common G50 3.2 problems?
I see many about the SC but not so many about the 87-89 cars. (Maybe that's a good thing?!)
You should replace the heavy rubber washer under the rear cover where the shift rod ends ... it gets pretty sloppy over the years , i installed a hard "pillow" like they call it ... it was a JW West product which i believe is Stomski now ?
Anyhow , it made a significant difference in shifter feel in my 89 G50
Isn't there also an updated clutch release fork and bearing kit? There is a Porsche tech bulletin that modifies the case to accept larger needle bearings. But I believe there is also an aftermarket fix that replaces the needle bearings (that dry out and fail) with bronze bushings without a case mod.

Shifter bushings and coupler are more maintenance items than "issues." The G50 is noisier, especially LSD - you notice it more if shifting like you are driving in the parking lot. With miles, they can be notchy when cold, but usually shifting improves as the box warms up. Release fork shaft and bushing is clutch related as much as G50. Overall, solid gear box - the rubber centered is now spring centered - adds to some noise.
It's currently out of the car as i have a Hargett shifter that i installed when i was tracking the car with PCA, all the original bits are going back in.They call it a "hard pillow " bushing, there is no part number
on it as it's some sort of hard plastic, but it will improve the sharpness of your shift mechanism. The 30 year old rubber original was pretty much destroyed when i removed it !
It's a JW West item , you'd have to check their website !

"... if shifting like you are driving in the parking lot."...Do you mean short, jerky movements?
Not really, more LOW RPW and lugging the transmission at low RPM. It can result in jerking - but that is where you hear the spring centered clutch more than the rubber original. You do not notice it at 4K+ shifts once warmed up - but that is likely not gonna happen in a parking lot, unless you stole something.

OK, I get you! That jerking movement reminds me of what I feel in my 997.2 PDK...feels like the car is going to cut out.
Not a very reasuring getaway car then? Good to know.
throw out bearing arm bearings (corrected in 89 ) timing and reference mark sensors, interior supplementary blowers, DME relay, Just a few off the top of my head
