Default factory correct undercoating?

I just bought a mostly original 1972 911T and am considering repainting the frunk. I need to know if this undercoating on the strut tower is original? Is it possible this car has the original struts . . . they are all black.

Yes it’s original. It’s a black tar like substance that needs to dug out when you do camber, castor. It also stops water ingress from wheel splash.

not so fast.....

original was brushed on with a heavy brush, you have spray paint spackle all over yours. someone may have replaced your struts and " touched it up "

Mmmm the black brush marks on top of “the tower” is correct in the 2nd 3rd pic but the spray paint lower by fuel tank filler pipe is wrong as is the 1st pic with the spay. Mmmm
may dealer had a spray can of steinschlag causing spackle.

the reason i know is that what i did with mine .. i replaced the struts ,, but that is actually a waterproof seal , so if you replace the struts you need to reseal it , so i sprayed it with some spray on hardening rocker guard spray and it worked great .
